The Backlot Ledger is a static site. It sets no advertising cookie, runs no analytics script of its own, loads no font or image from a third party and asks no reader to create an account.

What the site itself keeps

Nothing. The pages are files served by a content delivery network, and the desk receives no personal data from a visit. There is no comment system, no newsletter and no login.

What the hosting layer sees

Like every hosted site, the network that serves these pages processes the technical data needed to answer a request, such as an IP address and a user agent, for security and for aggregate traffic counts. That processing belongs to the hosting provider, not to this desk, and the desk does not use it to build a profile of a reader.

Correspondence

If you write to [email protected], the message and the address are kept only to answer you and to document a correction. Ask in the message if you want it deleted after the exchange, and it will be.

A person named in an entry

If you are named in an entry and you believe a statement about you cannot be supported by a public record, write to the desk with the entry number. The desk will check the source it relied on, and it will correct or remove the statement and say so. This is the same route a correction takes for any other reader.
